in JDE TE 2 environment some times the Instrument type is not loading .
I also faced the same issue once.
Steps to replicate:
1. Go to Risk Management > Derivative Entry > New
2. Select Instrument Type and Market
3. Click Close
4. Repeat this thrice
Issue: Instrument type suddenly change from dropdown to input field
Acceptance: Instrument type should remain dropdown
