Please provide an additional column in the lot table to capture 'Owner' at lot level. This can be empty. We already have a mechanism to capture multiple owners at item configuration for this purpose but did not extend it further to lot.
Why this is required?
- While doing production in manufacturing customer (Wholesome Sweeteners) can create a work order stating that they are producing it for 'Kraft'. In such cases, 'Kraft' needs to be recorded as the owner for lots produced using that work order. If there is no specific owner is specified then those lots will have empty for owner.
- Few days after production 'Kraft Inc' can change the ownership of that item from them to another entity (e.g. Target) while the FG lot is still lying in the same warehouse. We are going to provide a screen in manufacturing to allow them to transfer the ownership from one entity to another.
- 'Owner' information will be used by Wholesome Sweeteners to charge the owners warehouse storage charges for the period when it is under their ownership. From the earlier example, storage charges will be charged to 'Kraft Inc' from the time FG lot is produced till the ownership is transferred to 'Target'. Similarly storage charges will be charged to 'Target' from the time ownership is transferred to them till it is shipped from the warehouse.
- Similar to Kraft they have providing production and warehousing services to others also. It is an important requirement for them to keep track of the ownership so that they can be charged appropriately.
- Similar feature will be required by Harris Freeman (our group company) also. This will basically be used by any company that does production for 3rd parties and provides warehousing functionality.
