When exporting a Search grid to Excel, the format is not using the standard Excel borders. Here is an example of what it looks like when exporting to Excel.

Instead, can you remove the solid black borders around each cell so it looks like it would if you opened Excel and manually added this data?
Doing this will make it much easier for the users to edit or format it in Excel.
Hopefully this will also save some exporting time for Excel files too and make it a little faster to export.
It should look like this instead.
