1. Access the clients i21 environment via screen connect. See environment.
or
Download the clients backup from ftp server.
2. Process new payment, take note of bank transaction number initially being blank and save.

New payment more importantly unposted should not be automatically link to deposit.

Tested this on source on the same build 18.1.0918.383 but doesnt happen. Looks like an isolated case. Theres probably something that cause this to happen on Webster.
